Blogging live from my Level 3 Baptiste Teacher Training – more to come on Baptiste yoga when I get back! Saturday night we had homework to read an interview with Michael Jenson about Integrity – I am going to make copies and bring it to the studio if you are interested in reading it.
In the interview, he talks about how one’s word is important to integrity. Initially, to me that sounded like “duh” – keeping your word is incredibly important. However, it was amazing to me when I dug a little deeper how often I don’t keep my word. When I don’t keep my own word not only am I hurting others, I am hurting myself.
Integrity is the foundation for our lives and when we are out of it – things start to crumble. For example, in my life I say I want to eat healthy and then end up doing something different. The funny thing is I make excuses for not holding my word with myself – and then I end up not feeling great about myself. Excuses are incredibly disempowering and leave me out of integrity.
With integrity, I can empower myself again by being accountable. If I say to myself, “nope I am not keeping my word,” and own that – it steps me back into my power and possibility of being a stand for myself and others.
Is there anywhere in your life you are out of integrity? If so – step up and be in action around it. You will feel much better, I promise 🙂
Shine on,
Jackie
